about us

In 1932, Sam Gould opened a small hair salon with the objective of creating an upscale ambiance, superior customer service as well as unsurpassed professional salon services.

Eighty years after the first salon opened its doors, Philip and David Gould own 11 locations in Memphis and Olive Branch.  More than 450 Gould's employees study to stay current with, and receive training in, the most fashion-forward looks for men and women. Stylists consult with clients about their goals and desires for style, color and texture. Each category is given careful consideration before any changes are made.

Gould's opened its first Day Spa in 1998, extending services from complete hair care to total body care. A complete menu of services at each of the 6 Spa locations offers a range of body treatments, massages, facials, nail care, and other specialized beauty and cosmetic services such as Permanent Make-up.

When it comes to awards, the Memphis area has been generous to both the Gould's spa and the salon.  The yearly awards voted on by the readers of local and regional publications have crowned Gould's with the honor of 1st Place, including:

The Commercial Appeal Reader's Poll:

          1st Place-Day Spa

Gould's has been pleased to win both men and women's categories for both the salon and the spa for many years running.

Recognition comes in a variety of ways.  Gould's stylists and make-up artists have been featured on national television programs such as the CBS Morning Show and Fox's Good Day Live.

Along with the Awards, Gould's enjoys the emotional rewards from helping others.  We invite you to be a part of our efforts to assist "Locks of Love", a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 18, suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

Gould's employees also volunteer regularly at Target House providing St. Jude's patients and their families with haircuts, spa days, dinner, and other special events.  Target House provides housing for St. Jude patients and their families who receive long term care.
